Map Roman Font is a timeless classic in editorial typography, Risley embodies the essence of a bygone era with its retro 80s serif font. Map Roman is an elegant set of title capitals based on the typeface of MacDonald ‘Max’ Gill, whose work includes a variety of beautiful handwritten maps of London, the UK and the world. After discovering his work in a museum on cartography, DJR tried his hand at a typographic interpretation of his style that tries to capture the liveliness and authority of his characters. Map Roman stands out for its flexibility: in large format, the font is generous and lush, while in its narrowest version it manages to retain its charm even when space is at a premium.
