This is Gas House, a typeface based off a sign
for the beat poetry and art club of the same name.
The Gas House was located on Venice Beach in
California, and was a hot spot for local beatniks
along with the Venice West cafe and The Blue Horn.
It is unknown who designed the sign, it's possible
the club's own owner and leader, Lawrence Lipton, did
so, but that's only a guess.
The characters for the phrase GAS HOUSE are more or less
exactly traced to how they were designed for the club,
with a few alterations made for better readibility.
