About CD Esoteric

I started out using this letter style for painting signs. After years of drawing this letter style on patterns and painting, and later-- scanning into the computer and cutting in vinyl or creating patterns on the computer, I decided it was about time to put it into font form.

This font is modeled after old sign painter's letter styles seen in Atkinson's book and the work of "Letterheads" like David Butler. The name "Esoteric" comes from Rick Glawson's Esoteric Sign Supply in Wilmington, CA. If you are interested in learning more about old signs and the entire gilding process---This is the place. Rick and Lola are always willing to answer any questions you might have and you're sure to hear some story about an old sign painter who mispelled something and didn't realize until after he'd gone through 4 books of gold or something like that.

This font is free. There are no royalties to pay. No software fees. No shareware fees. No fees. I hope you use the font and it helps you, whether you be a Graphic Designer or Sign Artist. However, I would love to hear from you and how you have applied "CD Esoteric". Or any suggestions for improving it. Currently there are no lowercase or numerals. Perhaps in the future I will add these characters to the font, however, if you hold shift while typing--you'll get larger caps.
