Extended information
After some research into the font families readily available in Adobe and Microsoft products, I realized a gap: while there are thousands of fonts for the Latin alphabet, the options for Hebrew and Arabic alphabets were limited. "Katav" is Hebrew for "he wrote." "Kataba" is Arabic for "to write." From this, I created "Katavica."
I wanted to create a font to have people of all different cultural groups feel seen, heard, and respected. In doing this, my hope is that members of the Hebrew and Arabic cultures will feel a sense of inclusion and dignity through design and accessibility.
